Mack off the Rack: A Career Closet Initiative

Merrimack’s Mack off the Rack career closet initiative provides students access to new and gently used professional attire for interviews, career fairs, networking events and the workplace. The goal of Mack off the Rack is to eliminate financial barriers that may prevent students from having access to professional clothing during an internship and job search process. Alleviating this added stressor will allow students more time to focus on updating resumes, cover letters and interviewing tactics. Having professional clothes readily available to students will also help teach the importance of looking professional at interviews, job fairs and networking events.

Students make an appointment:

To shop Mack off the Rack, you must be a current Merrimack College student. You can make an appointment on your Handshake account. Come to the O’Brien Center (McQuade 205) at the time of your appointment and a staff member will escort you to the closet. Appointments are 20 minutes long. You can use the offices within the space as dressing rooms.

You can take one professional outfit from Mack off the Rack per semester. This outfit is free and yours to keep, but you are welcome to donate it back at any point if you no longer need it.

To donate:

At Merrimack, we believe in the power of community support. Your contributions enable us to provide students with access to high-quality, interview-appropriate clothing and accessories, giving them the confidence they need to succeed in their career endeavors.

By donating to Mack off the Rack, you’re not just giving clothes; you’re giving the gift of opportunity. Your generosity helps students put their best foot forward, enhancing their chances of securing internships, interviews and ultimately, their dream jobs.
