HOW TO GET STARTED

The O’Brien Center for Career Development and our team are proud to be your connection to Merrimack’s student population – at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. By connecting with our team, we will assist in filling your need for top talent and expanding your organization’s brand on our campus.

Handshake is how we allow companies to post job/internship/volunteer experiences, track applicants, register for career fairs, schedule on-campus interviews, and much more. We recommend bookmarking the Handshake homepage for easy access in the future. We strive to approve organizations and open positions in a timely manner, usually within 1-3 business days, when the college is open.

To begin working with Merrimack students, it is imperative to have not only a company/organization employer account on Handshake, but for your staff to have their own user accounts as well. Below, you’ll find helpful articles about creating your organization account and connecting user accounts to your organization.

Handshake Account Setup Posting a Job

Our Merrimack alumni can access Handshake in one of two ways:

    1. If you are representing your employer and wish to post jobs, events, or attend a career fair, please create an employer user account following these instructions
    2. If you’re an alumni looking to register an account to search for jobs, we encourage you to create a new Handshake account here and select Merrimack College as your school of choice. This help article will provide step-by-step instructions for you to begin using Merrimack’s online job platform.

Different Opportunities to Post in Handshake

Internships and Cooperative Education Opportunities: Internships and co-ops allow students to apply classroom knowledge and skills in a real-world setting. As an employer, this experience allows you to evaluate an individual’s abilities and potential while being able to develop a potential pipeline to benefit your organization.

If you would like to discuss building a new or expanded internship or co-op program, please connect with our Employer Engagement team to learn more. If you have questions about what you should title your open positions, pay rates for your interns/co-ops, or something more, please reach out to employers@merrimack.edu.

Full-Time Positions: After completing our 10 Step Career Development Program and individual courses of study, our students are prepared for their post-graduate career opportunities. Due to the diversity of our programs, we see both our undergraduate and graduate students move into a wide range of fields; no experience is off-limits.

After posting available positions on Handshake, if you would like to engage further to build brand awareness or meet with interested candidates, please reach out to employers@merrimack.edu.
