Success Story – Cristina Leone ’15

Now an Associate in the Audit Department at Edelstein & Company, Cristina Leone (’15) says “Merrimack College shaped me into a young accounting professional through the skills, knowledge, and expertise provided to me by the Girard School of Business.”

In her role at Edelstein & Company Cristina’s duties include auditing, reviews and compilations of commercial and not-for-profit organizations, company analysis’ and tax preparation among other things.

Cristina studied Accounting at Merrimack and was deeply engaged with the Girard School of Business Sigma lota Epsilon National Honor Society and Professional Management Fraternity. After being inducted during her sophomore year, she served as the Event Planner and President in the years following. She also joined the Finance Club during her senior year and served as the Secretary.

Cristina made sure to take advantage of new professional experiences to build skills outside of the classroom through internships and part-time work. She worked for Genzyme Corporation as an Administrative Assistant for Capital Programs over winter and summer breaks. She also interned for Scully Signal Company during her senior year, in order to gain the professional experience needed to apply for a full-time position.

Cristina credits her overall experience at Merrimack for leading her to self-discovery and allowing her to learn the skills needed for success in the workplace.
