After interviewing Caitlyn Wagner, who recently returned from studying abroad and is currently pursuing her marketing degree with a minor in studio arts, I learned that she has just started her new role in June as a marketing pursuits intern at Consigli Construction LLC. Caitlyn’s combination of marketing and studio art gives her a unique edge and perspective. Her studio art background strengthens her visual communication skills, especially when working with design tools like Adobe.
The internship placed her directly in a fast-paced marketing environment where she collaborates with project managers and contributes to client-facing materials. Her responsibilities include building materials using design software platforms, translating ideas into compelling marketing content and explaining why clients should be interested in their firm’s services. Caitlyn’s biggest takeaways so far were improvements in her Adobe Creative Suite skills. This internship pushed her to use Adobe more efficiently and creatively, strengthening her design confidence and technical ability.
Caitlyn was able to secure this position during her semester abroad in Italy, spending time applying and ultimately accepting this internship within the appropriate recruiting window. She knew she wanted to pursue something connected to this field and this opportunity would align perfectly. Her experience highlights the importance of staying open to opportunities, even when you’re not physically on campus.
When asked, Caitlyn shared this about her adjustment from studying abroad to being an intern back in the U.S.
In Rome, I wanted to experience everything I could. During my internship, I approached each day with that same mindset: learn something new, meet new people and take advantage of every opportunity.
The biggest adjustment wasn’t the workload, it was trading miles of walking through Rome for a desk. That change helped me discover how much I enjoy collaborating with the people around me and that I can thrive in an office setting.
