Interns at The New England Center for Children have a large number of responsibilities. Their primary responsibility will be ensuring safety for their students in a 1:1 ratio across classroom, gym, cafeteria, and community settings. Interns will be trained in a number of areas, including applied behavior analysis (ABA). Interns will utilize ABA to implement behavior management guidelines to decrease maladaptive behaviors such as self-injury, bolting, and aggression. They will also use ABA to increase skill acquisition in areas of deficit as outlined by their students’ Individualized Education Plan. Interns will be observed on-shift throughout the day, and will also have off-shift meetings with their supervisors to review their performance.
