Manufacturing Engineer Job Summary:
Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimates manufacturing cost determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
· Work as a member of the manufacturing engineering team on complex projects; design, program, simulate, and test automated machinery and processes; construct equipment and fixtures, and analyze production processes to assess automation’s best use; perform regular maintenance on automation equipment, troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration. Experienced in Automated Electromechanical / Mechatronic equipment in the manufacturing environment including, working with state-of-the-art automation, hands on experience working with various types of automation utilizing robotics, pneumatic, servos, plc’s
Detailed Description
· Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
· Assists in the procurement and installation of equipment and all other duties as assigned.
· Works closely with production and engineering by communicating and facilitating recommendations and design changes as applicable.
· Designs fixtures and tooling; evaluates processes for increased through put and trouble shoots issues on products and processes.
· Perform any special assignment in or outside the Department when requested
· Determine problem resolutions and implement improvements.
· Evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems.
· Ensuring manufacturing processes, and equipment meet capability and capacity requirements.
· Researching and developing new processes, new equipment, and new products introduction (NPI).
· Ensuring manufacturing processes, and equipment comply with safety standards
· Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure collaboration.
Education and Experience:
· Minimum AS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
· Minimum of 2 years hands on practical experience supporting and designing automated systems
· Minimum of 2 years hands on practical experience in a production and/or assembly environment
· Excellent computer skills – particularly in programming and software development. Many aspects of the role of an Automation Engineer require the use of a computer
· Equipment troubleshooting skills – as you will often need to debug or troubleshoot an existing system
· Communication skills – will need to be able to explain novel and complex ideas to stakeholders of all levels and within multidisciplinary teams. Written communication skills will also be needed for record keeping and documentation.
· Problem-solving and creative thinking – will be required to troubleshoot problems as they arise and find effective solutions
· Flexibility & Adaptability – must be able to keep up with latest techniques and technologies as they develop
· Must have knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma.
· Desired knowledge of Project Management, Risk Assessment, and Design of Experiments
