STEMCore LLC is seeking motivated, responsible, and academically strong tutors to join our growing team. STEMCore is a student-founded tutoring company based in Binghamton, NY that provides high-quality, individualized academic support for middle school, high school, and college students.

STEMCore tutors work one-on-one with students in subjects such as math, biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus, statistics, AP courses, Regents courses, and other STEM-related classes. Our tutoring model focuses on using each student’s actual course materials whenever possible, allowing tutors to provide personalized support that matches the student’s class, teacher, professor, assignments, and exams.

This position is ideal for current college students or recent graduates who are strong in one or more STEM subjects, enjoy helping others learn, and can explain difficult concepts in a clear and supportive way.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, accurate, and engaging one-on-one tutoring sessions online or in person when applicable.
  • Prepare for sessions by reviewing student-provided materials, topics, or questions in advance.
  • Help students understand challenging concepts, work through practice problems, and develop stronger study strategies.
  • Adapt explanations to each student’s learning style, course level, and academic goals.
  • Promote confidence, problem-solving skills, and independent learning.
  • Communicate professionally with STEMCore leadership regarding scheduling, student needs, and session updates.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate communication with students and families.
  • Uphold academic integrity and avoid completing assignments, quizzes, exams, or graded work for students.
  • Submit tutoring hours promptly through STEMCore’s internal payroll form after each session.
  • Follow STEMCore policies related to scheduling, communication, confidentiality, client interactions, and payroll procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Current college student or recent college graduate.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one STEM, math, science, AP, Regents, or college-level subject area.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain academic concepts clearly, patiently, and effectively.
  • Responsible, reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Able to follow company procedures, including submitting hours accurately and on time.
  • Comfortable tutoring online; in-person availability may be helpful but is not required unless specifically arranged.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with tutoring, mentoring, teaching, TA work, peer advising, or academic support.
  • Strong performance in relevant courses.
  • Familiarity with Binghamton University STEM/pre-health courses, AP courses, Regents courses, or high school STEM curricula.
  • Ability to tutor multiple subjects.
  • Interest in education, STEM, pre-health, mentoring, or student success.
