Basic Purpose:

At MFS the Fixed Income Research Associate Program is designed to allow associates to become fully immersed in the investment management world of fixed income. The Fixed Income Research Associates in the emerging market team work with the portfolio management and research analyst team in analyzing sovereign credit worthiness, external bond valuations, and local currency and bond markets. The Fixed Income Research Associate Program is designed to be a 3 – 5 year program, with the possibility of being offered an Analyst position on the Fixed Income team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage and enhance the existing analytical tools pertaining to the EM universe
  • Develop analytic models pertaining to creditworthiness and bond valuations, local markets, and currencies
  • Monitor and analyze factors affecting external sovereign bond movements, including economic, financial, political and technical developments
  • Build, maintain and update valuation and economic models and reports
  • Collect data and information for use in presentations, models, and analysis
  • Assume additional projects and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, major in Economics, Finance, Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Quantitative and programming skills preferred
  • Experience with macroeconomics and econometrics preferred
  • Exceptional analytical skills with an ability to synthesize and manipulate large amounts of data
  • Demonstrated passion for learning, with a focus on international economics and affairs
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects
  • Relevant internship experience preferred
  • Organized and attentive to detail.
