Merrimack Campus Recreation

Fitness Center Personal Trainer – #7-102

Reports to: Assistant Director of Campus Recreation & Fitness Supervisors

Student Employment Rate: $17/hr

As a Fitness Center Personal Trainer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Develop personalized, safe, and effective exercise programs for clients of various fitness levels in accordance with client goals, capabilities, and movement assessment. Track and adjust programs on a recurring basis
  • Maintain relevant communication with clients to schedule regularly occurring training sessions
  • Log all training sessions into DSE system as required
  • Report all equipment or facility issues to Supervisors in detail
  • Prepare incident and injury reports in detail when necessary
  • Remain up to date, adhere to, and enforce all Campus Recreation department policies and procedures
  • Maintain awareness of all staff communications and respond in a timely manner
  • Communicate with Assistant Director of Campus Recreation or Fitness Center Supervisors regarding any client issues or concerns in a timely manner
  • Contribute to social media posts with Fitness Supervisors and Grad Fellows

Attendance & Availability:

  • Must maintain a consistent availability between 2-20hrs per week
  • Attend all mandatory Staff and Trainer meetings and orientations

The following qualifications and experience are required for this position:

  • CPR certification
  • Maintain at least one current nationally-accredited fitness certification (NASM, ACSM, ACE, ISSA, NSCA, etc.)
  • Customer service, strong communication, professionalism
  • Be physically able to instruct and or demonstrate a variety of exercises
  • Applicants are expected to be personable, organized, self-motivated and team oriented
  • Ability to lift 45lbs
  • Must be an active Merrimack College undergraduate or graduate student
