We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic college interns to join our summer team at Hope for Youth and Families. Our summer programs focus on reading, the arts, and social-emotional learning. In this role, you will support our educators and teaching artists by connecting with and mentoring youth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Attend Professional Development trainings.
- Review the curriculum in preparation for class.
- Communicate with Lead Educator about plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Manage student behavior.
- Document observations and progress on each student.
- Work with the team to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods and maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Attend weekly professional development to support your classroom practice and meet with your supervisor for regular coaching meetings.
- Request support when necessary.
- Afternoon and lunch supervision of youth during sports and enrichment blocks.
- Develop and lead sports and enrichment activities.
- Participate in evaluation with the Director.
- Follow proper protocol for arrival and dismissal.
- Maintain a safe environment for all youth served.
- Administer First Aid as needed.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding ongoing progress.
- Follow all HYF protocols and procedures.
Training for this program will take place the week of June 23, 2025. We will have a ‘rest’ week from June 30th to July 4th for those who travel for the holiday. Our program with youth will run from July 7 to August 1, 2025. Work days will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
