The O’Brien Center for Career Development was established because of the generosity of the James W. O’Brien Foundation in 2012, transforming career services and experiential learning for Merrimack Warriors.
The O’Brien Foundation’s generosity in support of the career development initiatives of Merrimack College, has helped Merrimack to be ranked 90 out of 4,500 colleges and universities in 10-year earnings for graduates. (Source: Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce.)
The O’Brien Center for Career Development empowers Merrimack students to explore their strengths, connect with opportunities and achieve meaningful careers. Through tailored advising, interactive workshops and cutting-edge technology tools, the Center provides resources to help students excel in their career journeys. Career development is embedded within the entire Merrimack community. Through our school-based advising centers, students can get specialized support related to major and career exploration, academic advising, registration and preparing for and searching for internships, co-ops, and full-time jobs.
The Center engages employer partners to recruit through multiple avenues, including tabling, retreats, networking events, site visits and on campus interviews. Many partners hire Merrimack students for their open internships and jobs.
